W/E 11th November 2018 – Match Reports

So today we had a busy day with 2 senior and 2 junior games to report on.

First up our 3rd team travelled to Epsom to take on Nomads 4. After a respectful minutes silence the game began and we looked up for the game. Two quick goals from this slightly crocked and one from Josh gave us an early lead but nomads settled into the game and pulled a few back at half time there was little between the teams. A tough team talk at HT focused on competing for the rebound and holding the ball in attack a little longer. Nomads though outscored us in the second half to take the points with a 9-7 win. It was a really good game though and well done Phoebe who scored a great goal.

The 1st team travelled to Highbury with 5 x first team players missing, although this allowed our younger players more development and experience playing in the regional league and more match time. Five of the 8 were under 18, one only playing her 3rd ever match and coach Butters carrying an ankle injury, so the team went into the match with no illusions how difficult it was going to be, however the team played some excellent stuff and to compound matters we plagued nearly half a match one down to injury. Only in the last 15mins did Highbury pull away and we’re out played at times by our young up and coming players. Had we kept all 8 on the pitch for the entire match meant we would have won ? Who knows but with 5 first team players missing afforded Highbury a victory I’m sure they wouldn’t have otherwise got. Final score 14 – 10.

Next up our u11s who were coached for most of the game by Jenny and Sarah before the coach finally made it. It was a cracking game against tornadoes. With nothing in it up to the last 10 minutes when Tornadoes scored a couple of unanswered goals to take the points with a 12-8 win. This was genuinely one of the most exciting u11 games I’ve seen in a while. Well done Bromley and especially Elissa who scored a hat trick.

Last up our u13s. We were missing Lucy who had to withdraw through illness. We planned for this game and it seemed to work well with Charlie scoring twice in quick succession. We never looked back and the whole team were firing on all cylinders. It was an easy halftime team talk – more of the same please. Bearsted Rams never really looked like threatening us and we took points with a 9-2 win. Great first Kent league game from Ollie and Issy. Well done all especially Jack and Charlie who scored 5 and 3 respectively.

At the end of the game Evie was awarded her Jack Petchey award as voted for by the u13 group. Very well deserved Evie.

One last thing to mention before signing off, 7 young Bromley players represented England in the annual autumn competition in Flanders in Belgium. Well done guys very proud of you.
