Busy weekend of korfball on Sunday with both senior teams and all junior age groups playing.
Our 2nd team made the early morning trip to Hammersmith to take on Supernova 3. Despite Supernova being bottom of the league the team was warned that they had played many of the top teams and their results were quite close.
We didn’t start well and they pressed hard and forced passes, turnovers and rushed shots. They pulled away to a 6-0 lead and it looked like it might be a long hard game.. We slowly began to play our usual game and despite going into half time 10-3 down we were determined to get back into the game. What a second half, we did to supernova on the second half what they did to us and despite being in a real scrap the team got to within 3 goals and with a little more time would have caught them but time ran out at 14-11.
What character from a team who’s average was 14 and Half. Super proud of the team who battled and wouldn’t be bullied in a physical but very fair game.
Next up our first team who took on Nomads 2 one of the leagues top teams. We were without luke one if our top players so tougher still.
First quarter of the game was very close and we competed really well and the score was really tight. Up to half time we were in the game but costly missed shots were mounting up. Nomads pulled away in the second half but we never gave up and despite the result many positives from the game. In the context of the season we have more important games to play.
Our juniors and kids from one of our feeder schools took part in an afternoon of korfball at Glyn school in Epsom. We were represented at all age groups and our kids were amazing and showed the quality we’ve become accustomed to.
Well done all of you.
Thanks to Natalie and the team managers and parents who got everyone there.
