Ok today we had six teams in action, 3 senior and 3 junior.
First match of the day saw our senior team take on Trojans 2
A historic day for Bromley Korfball, where the 1st team beat the league champions for the past three seasons 17 goals to 12. Although are results to date have been disappointing, the performances have been encouraging. The win was the highest level win in the clubs short history and as a performance even eclipses the league title two seasons ago, simply measured against the level of opposition and with 3 x under 16 female players in the starting line up, the future does indeed looks bright, in fact “orange“……
Next up our under 9 team travelled to Kent to play Kingfisher
We had four player and no subs . We did really well drawing with Bearsted last week and hoped to do a little better today and did we!
It was a great game with goals galore but more about the team performance. Great passing movement and topped off with a 22-1 win.
9 goals from Jacob, 7 from Elissa, 3 from Oscar and 2 from Kieron
Amazing game guys and great credit to Natalie’ s coaching. Thanks Jenni and Sarah our team managers.
Next up our u11s who faced a tougher challenge than last week. Pre match chat pointed out that this team score 17 in their last game so defence needed to be the order of the day.
It’s fair to say we managed to do so that to a degree limiting them to 9 goals. I think we learned that playing in the Kent leagues is a real step up in quality and I think the players will improve on this performance. Worth noting we had 4 debutants in the team with huge thanks to the Hayes boys who did a great job.
Next our u13s playing their first league game of the season. This team has a lot of potential so I was excited to see how they’d play. The first half looked like a first game with many unforced errors resulting in goals conceded. We simply couldn’t get our game going at all. It was 6-2 to kingfisher at half time. The half time team talk was 1/2 focusing on the positive and pointing out how we could turn the situation around. Well the second half was a different affair and we set about Kingfisher with renewed confidence. Despite conceding two pens that weren’t converted we pulled the score back to 6-6 and to be honest could and should have won the game with the amount of chances we had. I was delighted with the reaction from the team with great character and resilience a decent draw from what could have been a heavy loss.
Last up our 2nd and 3rd senior teams played at Langley.
Our seconds took on unbeaten Bec 5 who have beaten all comers this season. I am reliably informed that our team extremely well and in the end were unlucky to lose out 8-10, nice comment from Bec who said we were the best opposition they’d faced this season. The average age of this team is 17 which shows how well our junior and youth programme is and developing these young players.
Last up and by no means least our 3rds took on Highbury 5 and despite playing with 7 players we scored 7 and lost to a well organised team. Another excellent game with 6 of the 7 goals from our rising stars. Happy days!
