W/E 1st March 2020 – Match Reports

A busy weekend of korfball to report on let’s deal with our senior 1st and 2nds who travelled to Dalston to take Highbury 2 and 4 respectively.

So our 1sts lined up against Highbury a team above us in the league. Coach Butters had called up Tiggy for her first full game in the regional league, we started with 7 players as Charlie’s train was delsyed but that hold us back and we were scoring from each attack and working hard to limit Highbury’s chances. Tiggy settled into the game well and everyone looked rekaxed. We managed to get ahead and never let it slip, a great performance by the whole team, Hannah did a great job intercepting passes, teo dispatched penalties with impressive coolness and Georgia scored 5, Tiggys 2 goals underscored a very good performance. We took the points 15-18 and earned 2 valuable points in our push for the promo league next season.

Next up our young 2nd team who faced Highbury 4 we had lots of changes but retained our core youngsters with coach Butters filling in. Although we didn’t get the points the overall performance was good and with another game under their belts gained valuable experience.

So our u11s were playing catch up on fixtures so had two games to play. First game was against Bearsted Rams. The form book predicted a comfortable win but we never take any team for granted. The team got off to a flyer and never looked back. Our philosophy is based on being a quick passing, shoot on sight team and they did just that scoring 18 and keeping a clean sheet. Another amazing performance by the whole team. Next up for the u11s were a KV team we hadn’t yet played this season. We set about the task with style and great efficiency. We talked about our strategy before the game, “get the ball in the basket”. The team went out and scored 14 goals and didn’t concede. So we caught up with our fixtures and top the league with 2 games to go as well as the Kent cup.

So next our our littlest stars, our u9s. These guys have been a revelation all season. So today they faced Tornadoes. We work hard in training on movement and scoring and did that in spades. Great teamwork, great work ethic and really enjoying the game. The result was 6-1 win for Bromley. Amazing little team.

Last up our u13s who probably had the toughest game of the day against a very strong and dominant Tornadoes. We know this team well and know how good they can be. But we whilst respecting that we were ready to step up.

We conceded a couple of early goals and were very unlucky with two shots from jack literally going in and rolling back out.

So tight game on the cards, but we gave away a couple of soft penalties. But we were playing well in defence and getting chances but just not clinical enough. All in all a satisfying performance with room for improvement.
