W/E 25th November 2018 – Match Reports

Three games to report on all at our home venue Langley boys school.

First up our 2nds faced Highbury 3 for the 2nd time in two weeks. We had a changed team with Josh Moore stepping up and Katie and Becky playing together for the first time. Leon and his opponent got to know each other quite quickly and things got a little tense before a swift intervention from the ref calmed things down. The lead Highbury amassed in the first half saw them through despite a very solid second half defensive performance. We went down 8-14 but given this is in a league above last year’s we are competing well.

Next up our 1sts against a tough Supernova 1. Another tough game in prospect and indeed that’s what we got. Many positives from this game but again to many errors and a lack of focus at times allowed a free scoring team to pull away mid first half. The opposition boys scored 15 of their 22 goals. A couple of nice goals from teo and some good performances as well but work to be done.

Last up our 3rds who faced local rivals and good friends in Croydon 4. The 3rds average age took a steep upward turn as coaches Berry and Butters swapped coaches shirts for players shirts. We took and early lead with some good korfball and looked like we might win comfortably but Croydon had other ideas and levelled the game with 10 to go. We went to be denied though and scores two more to take the points and keep our wining run going. 7 of the 9 goals scored by the coaches, go oldies (sorry Dave and know you’re not reallan oldie). Excellent all round performances though and the win was a real team effort. Thanks to those who came support the teams, much appreciated.
