So the 2021/22 season got up and running on Sunday for our 2nd and 3rd teams.
Our 2nds had an early morning trip to Tooting to take on South London 1 (Mitcham). The teams first outing was a chance to see how the new playing philosophy introduced by coach Oosterling was taking shape. It also provided senior debuts for Kushula and Isobel and provided the first opportunity for former Supernovan Rob to don the orange of Bromley. Despite the opposition taking an early lead we soon clicked into gear and never looked back. Goals, intercepts and strong rebounding gave us a platform to take the win 15 – 5. A fabulous result with great performances by all. Well done to Eleanor Young on two great goals.
Next up our 3rds against South London 2 (Balham). This game proved a great opportunity for our youngsters to get more senior game time. We were also delighted to welcome Sian in her first outing for Bromley and a massive thanks to Craig Stevens who helped out as a guest player. This game was a revelation with our youth players stepping up to the mark, Kushula scoring 4, Isobel 2, Eleanor 1 and Emily 1. The star of the show was Sian who, despite dreading them, took 5 or 6 pens (sorry lost count) and scored every one. Very proud of you all and it shows why developing youth players means Bromley will be competing at the highest level in year’s to come (Unfortunately as we had to play a few illegal players the emphatic win will be treated as a loss).
The biggest shout out goes to Rory our super supporter!
