Yesterday saw three Bromley teams take part in competitions.
First up our juniors who started this season’s campaign in Kent. Our u13s had a win without playing as the opposition conceded.
The first game saw our under 9s take on Bearsted in an early start in Snodland. It was great to see our youngsters many of whom haven’t played in a competitive game before. Every child had a lot of game time and showed some amazing quality, what was great though was watching the kids confidence grow as they played. Some great goals and although they lost 4-5 they did us proud.
Next our u11s who had 3 u9s playing to make the team up. It was a very competitive game against Bearsted. It was great to see the players start their campaign with some great play and great shooting from Charlie who bagged 4. Despite shooting from just about everywhere Lewis is still waiting for his first goal though I’m sure it isn’t far away. It was the closet of games and despite a late penalty opportunity it finished 5-5. Well done all and a huge thanks to the younger players for making this game possible.
Lastly our seniors travelled to elephant and castle to take on supernova in an almost tropical environment in supernovas new venue. This was a game we knew was winnable based on league form. We started really well with mark and Tom scoring some great long range shots and dominating the collect. Steph who was playing her first game looked confident and did a great defensive job limiting her opponent to rushed shots.
It was a very tight game with neither team able to take a decisive lead and it was all square going into half time. Our turnover count was costing us dearly and supernova punished us accordingly. Going into the last quarter it was all to play for and while the goals didn’t drop for us they did for supernova and they took a two goals lead and despite our best endeavours we couldn’t get that breakthrough goal and supernova scored at the death to take the points with a 14-11 win. We competed well at times but frustrated at other times with our turnovers but some real quality on show.
