W/E 7th October 2018 – Match Reports

So the 2018/19 season started yesterday for Bromley Korfball Club.

Our 2nd senior team made the journey across the river to take on Highbury 4. Our youthful team average age 17 included debutant Tilly as well as a little height and experience with Tom Young. Team talk focussed on a solid start and not letting the game getting away from us. Sadly Highbury got out of the blocks quicker than us and took a four goal lead and looked like they might put the game beyond us and at 5-1 at half time it was looking like a tough afternoon. Our 2nd team though showed grit, steel and skull and really fought well. The second half was a much tighter affair with Highbury finally taking the game 12-7. Despite the loss we showed we were able to compete in this higher league. Excellent first game from Tilly.

The afternoon meant a trip to Kent for our u13s who kicked off their season against Kingfisher. With a wealth of talent to choose from we’ve decided on a squad rotation system to give our players the experience they need. This team set about the task with some truly outstanding passing and shooting. Despite the free shooting play we didn’t capitalise with goals. We played really well and started the season deserved 4-3 winners.
