W/E 8th October 2017 – Match Reports

Sunday saw our three senior teams play their first home games of the season at Langley boys school.

Our first team took on league champions Trojans 2 in what was always going to be the toughest of games. The average of this squad was 16 with two young players being given an opportunity to impress and boy did they.

First half was really tight with Bromley competing as equals with Trojans and scoring some great goals. It was 11-8 to Trojans at half time and knew they would press hard in the second half which they did. Their experience showed and their clinical shooting gave them a comfortable win in the end but we scored 15 goals and showed with a little more experience we can compete at this level. Great debuts for Daniel and Ben with goals for both. Also great cameo from Georgia who came on to cover for Issy for a brief time. The whole squad looked fantastic and the future is looking bright.

Our seconds took on supernova 4 in what was a really hard fought game, lots of goals and skill on show. Dave Butters pushed the average age of the squad up a little and the team responded to having such a great player on the pitch. We went in at half time with a slender lead which we extended to four midway through the second half but again our youth and inexperience showed as we couldn’t shut the game down and supernova to their credit pegged us back and in the final five minutes took the lead and held our for an 11-13 win.

Great all round team performance and lots of positives to take forward.

Last and by no means least our 3rds took on a Trojans team with a number of guest players including one Scotland international player.

This squad will effectively be our youth development team this season. It was a tough encounter and with a couple of players playing their first ever senior games (Georgia and Fergus) it was a very good performance and although the result didn’t go out way it was more about the performances for all of these games and I’m sure the players will have learned a lot from the games.
